BDO and WorldHockey: a winning combination, wholly committed to providing a global spirit that supports local success.
Press Release - Brussels, 2007
BDO International (the network and all BDO Member Firms) recognises the importance of playing a role in the long-term benefit of the society in which we operate. Through its sponsorship activities, the BDO brand is brought to life through action and association, and its values are reinforced. |
It was with these criteria in mind that BDO embarked, in 2002, upon its enduring relationship with the International Hockey Federation / WorldHockey. Both organisations have a keen sense of professionalism and fair play and, following the success of the first sponsorship period, the agreement was renewed in 2006 and will run until 2010.
BDO’s global presence and structure make it a natural partner for WorldHockey. Each organisation strives continually to develop and secure the future of the individual members and of their world wide networks and the international sponsorship agreement is a perfect combination whereby the global initiative allows Member Firms to offer local support.
Using their unchallenged knowledge of the local market to apply this sponsorship to their own initiatives, many BDO Member Firms have accordingly been involved in the international events at national level, supporting and building business relationships with national hockey associations.

Paul van Elten, International Secretary, leads our hockey sponsorship:
“WorldHockey understands not only the needs of international teams, but also the dreams of the individual players – and in the same way, the structure of the BDO network and the values underpinning our actions emphasise the importance of personal relationships, of strongly-held beliefs and common goals. A world leader in the accounting arena, BDO challenges the market model in many ways and has a reputation as the leading provider of accountancy services to sporting associations and athletes. Since the global sponsorship began, BDO Member Firms have put considerable effort into establishing relationships at all levels between BDO and national hockey associations. Our global presence means that we enjoy local strength in many of the same countries where hockey is a passion.”
